Welcome to Duke Soccer Camp
Duke Soccer Camp has much to offer in its Day Camps, Overnight Camps and specialized clinics.  Duke Soccer is rich in tradition and continues that tradition with developing youth players throughout the country.  The experienced staff, headed by Coach John Kerr, brings a wealth of knowledge to the soccer field that can be found no where else in the country.

"I liked Duke because the coaches were from around the world, rather than all being from North Carolina."
   -Brian Lockman, Mullica Hill, NJ

"I enjoyed your camp very much. It has been one of the toughest and most fun soccer week of my life."
    -Chris Cail, Acworth, GA

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

The goals of our camp are really quite simple. We want each of our students to learn new skills and improve those they already have, to learn how to train themselves on their own after they leave camp, and to learn how to make the best of their newly found skills with every team on which they play. We have developed an outstanding curriculum and hired and trained the best staff possible to clearly present it. Combine this with great competition and you get results not possible anywhere else. Join us this summer.

JOHN KERR AND DUKE SOCCER
Duke Director of Athletics Joe Alleva announced December 18, 2007 that John Kerr has been named the school’s sixth head men’s soccer coach.

Kerr, inducted into the Duke Sports Hall of Fame in 2004, replaces John Rennie, who compiled a 410-161-34 record in 29 seasons at the helm of the Blue Devil program.

“We are excited that John Kerr will be returning to Duke as our soccer coach,” said Alleva.  “John is an outstanding coach and educator.  I am confident that he will continue and enhance the great tradition of Duke soccer so well established and maintained by John Rennie.”

Kerr, a 1987 graduate of Duke who captained the Blue Devils to the 1986 national championship, returns to his alma mater following nine seasons as the head coach at Harvard. While with the Crimson, Kerr compiled a ledger of 81-57-13 while earning trips to the NCAA Tournament in his last two campaigns.

During his tenure at Harvard, Kerr produced 15 first team All-Ivy League selections, three Ivy League Rookie of the Year choices and two Ivy League Player of the Year picks. In addition, the Crimson led the nation in scoring in 2006 en route to the Ivy League championship.

In addition, Kerr has served as the coaching director of the F.C. Greater Boston soccer club since 2002 and is a current member of the U.S. Soccer Federation Coaching Staff.

“It’s an absolute dream come true,” said Kerr. “To be honest it’s the only job I would leave Harvard for. It is a real honor for me to follow in the footsteps of Coach Rennie. They [the administration] made it really easy to come back home to Duke and pursue a dream.

“They’re a great group of players. I recruited a lot of them to go to Harvard. I’m ecstatic--- I’m very excited about the future with the team. I can’t really say we’re going to do this or do that I just know that we’re going to work hard and try to win a national championship.”

While at Duke, Kerr was the national player of the year in 1986 as the Blue Devils went 18-5-1 and captured the school’s first national championship. A two-time first team All-ACC and All-America choice, Kerr finished his career with 42 goals and 43 assists for 127 points. Those totals rank fifth, second and third, respectively, all-time at Duke.

Kerr went on to play for the U.S. National Team, where he saw action in 17 matches and tallied two goals from 1984-95. He played professionally in England, Ireland, France, Canada and the United States. From 1996-98, Kerr played in Major League Soccer as a member of the Dallas Burn and New England Revolution. In 1998 and 1999, Kerr was a player and coach for the Boston Bulldogs of the professional A-league.

Kerr has coached at the youth, high school, collegiate and professional levels in both England and the United States. In 1992, he was the top Blue Devil assistant of a squad that reached the national semifinals.
